Modelling an energetic tidal strait: investigating implications of common numerical configuration choices

چکیده
Representation of the marine environment is key for reliable coastal hydrodynamic models. This study investigates implications common depth-averaged model configuration choices in sufficiently characterising seabed geometry and roughness. In particular, applications requiring a high level accuracy and/or exhibiting complex flow conditions may call greater detail representation than typically adopted Ramsey Sound, macrotidal strait Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK considered as case study. The site contains various steeply inclined bathymetric features, including submerged pinnacle named Horse Rock rocky reef called “The Bitches”. available energy Sound’s tidal currents has attracted attention from developers. Investigating Paleoenvironmental Factors of Strait of Hormuz during the Holocene
The objective of this study is to understand the calcareous nannoplankton response to past environmental changes in the Strait of Hormuz during the Holocene. Calcareous nannoplankton is well abundant in the living phytoplankton community and a key component of the marine sediments. Due to its distinct reaction to environment changes and its good preservation potential, it is well suited for p...
متن کاملSearching for tidal tails - investigating galaxy harassment
Galaxy harassment has been proposed as a physical process that morphologically transforms low surface density disc galaxies into dwarf elliptical galaxies in clusters. It has been used to link the observed very different morphology of distant cluster galaxies (relatively more blue galaxies with ’disturbed’ morphologies) with the relatively large numbers of dwarf elliptical galaxies found in nea...
متن کاملInvestigating Homology between Proteins using Energetic Profiles
Accumulated experimental observations demonstrate that protein stability is often preserved upon conservative point mutation. In contrast, less is known about the effects of large sequence or structure changes on the stability of a particular fold. Almost completely unknown is the degree to which stability of different regions of a protein is generally preserved throughout evolution. In this wo...
